First Post of 2009

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!! This is my first post of the year 2009. lol. A certain friend taught me how to post videos recently. Thanks a lot man! Haha. Now I can share videos with y'all.



These 2 songs have been playing in my head for weeks now. They're both by TVXQ. I swear I used to DETEST this group because of their cutesy shit. But now they've changed their style for the better. The first one is called "MIROTIC" & the 2nd one is "Wrong Number".

Love Me Tender

2008 was a sweet year :) I did lots of great stuff. One of the best parts would have to be the vacations I went on. Kota Kinabalu, Macao & Hong Kong in June & Manila in November. I've never been to that many places in a year. I love the whole vibe in Hong Kong. The people are so interesting. Not to mention trendsetters. The shopping was amazing. I bought so much Esprit. I think that was the most shopping I've ever done. I realized that Esprit is MY brand. lol. I went to Disneyland for the first time. It really is the happiest place on earth. I didn't wanna leave Hong Kong. But then again, I always don't wanna leave the big cities. I live for the lights & adrenalin rush.






I also sat for the PMB this year. Got 6"A"s. I was a tad bit disappointed. I thought I'd get 7. But what's done is done. I'll just have to strive harder in school. A lesson learnt is never a waste. I'm relieved it's over though. I'm so glad yet sad that a chapter in my life has ended.



Hmm... What else? I'm kinda tired right now. But I felt that I just had to blog for the last time in 2008. Happy New Year everyone!

Not everything is as solid as it seems.....

The following are events that occurred in my Dreamscapes. None of the following events are to be re-enacted for mental sanity purposes.



My school held an appreciation dinner, or should I say lunch since it was daytime, for all the students who got 6 "A"s & above. The lunch was held in the staffroom and all the students ate on the teachers' desks. The staffroom looked really grand like a hotel ballroom.



When the whole lunch thing was over, I stepped out of the staffroom & into the sunlight. Kids were running around everywhere. A bunch of kids came up to me & started bugging me with random questions. "Why are you midgets asking me?" I snapped. "Cuz you're the prefect. Duh," they replied. I blank out for a second. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I see J quickly slip into the auditorium. Really random. Suddenly, the sunlight disappears. Dark clouds replace it & it starts pouring. Everyone's car arrives to pick them up except mine. So there I am, soggy & wet, waiting for my car. Alone.



After what seemed like an eternity, I saw the light.....

Twilight

I finally watched Twilight at The Mall yesterday. After hearing mixed reviews from my mates, I finally got to make my own review. And my verdict is..........



Twilight was great! There was this subtle thrill to the movie. It didn't really deserve the months of build-up though. It gave off a more indie vibe to me, which was what they planned for the movie from the beginning anyways. Until the fans became loco, that is. Not that it's a bad thing. I love indie. It wasn't like an exhilirating James Bond movie with awesome special effects all-throughout (Although Twilight's special effects were note-worthy as well but I'll get to that later).



I don't really see why Twilight got any bad rap anyways. All that talk about it being completely different from the book is all bullshit. It was just like the book minus all the long, boring parts. The cast was damn good too. They captured the awkward moments in the book perfectly. And there were lots of awkward moments in the book. And I like how the camera was a bit shaky. It was all so human & real. The way the actors communicated reminded me of The Hills without all the fake-ness, cat-fights & drama. It was also funny in an offbeat way which I love. What made those moments endearing was that they weren't tryna make it funny. It just was. That's an extra in the movie. I don't remember the book having that many funny moments at all.



The fact that Bella wasn't super-gorgeous also made the movie more real. She had heaps of charm though. Actually both Edward and Bella looked like druggies. It was like a druggie version of Romeo & Juliet. Which I think is good because not all romances bounce on Cloud 9. There was an electric connection between Edward & Bella too. I think everyone in the audience felt it because they were giggling like schoolgirls in the romance scenes. Even the Malay dads who were with their families. Seriously. I felt so embarrassed for them.






The music in Twilight was amazing too. The soundtracks captured all moments just right. They weren't so rock & angsty like I thought it would be. They were more indie-ish. I especially liked the guitar track in the romance scene when Edward & Bella were on top of the mountain. And Bella's song! Absolutely enchanting. The scenery was picturesque. The Cullen's house was just as I imagined it. But Edward's room was just a tad bit better than my imagination's. It's my new dream house.

Now, the special effects. They were only a few scenes which had special effects. The way Edward manoeuvered his car was just as I imagined. Fast, raucous & fearless. And I liked the shiney vampire part. They didn't make Edward this over-glow when sunlight hit him. It was just this subtle crystally kinda shine which you almost believed could happen in real life. In my opinion, the baseball scene was the best in terms of special effects. The sounds were deafening. Perfect. And Alice embodied the grace of a ballerina right to the pointe of her feet.



The prom scene ended the movie. It was beeee-utiful! The lights were blinding in a good way. It was a perfect prom. Too perfect. I thought the movie would have a gooey, happy ending which I would hate. But I knew Stephanie Meyer wouldn't let that happen.

Ayy Baybayy!

Well today, today, today..... What can I say? Today was my baby cousin's birthday. I was supposed to go to Bandar for the party but we had to go to Miri first. Mom woke me up at 8 a.m. - which I consider early during the holidays. I had to decorate our birthday present - cupcakes. I have to say I am pretty good at decorating pastries now. I decorate all my mom's cake orders. I'll have to post pics some time. So I spent over half an hour decorating 50 cupcakes. We were supposed to leave the house at 9 a.m. but we ended up leaving at 10 a.m. Why did I have a feeling we weren't gonna make it to the 2.30 p.m. party?

When we got to the queue, it was unbelievable. The Brunei side of the queue was SOOOO long. But when we got to Miri, there was literally no queue. Just a couple of cars waiting in line at every booth. The way it should be. Why the heck is the Brunei Immigration Dept. such a lagger? Geez.....

So we reached Miri at about midday. I had some delicious Chicken Rice at KFC. Just in time because there was a rumbly in my tummy. Lol. Fried chicken with chicken rice tastes weird though. Fried chicken should be served with gravy or something.

For dessert, we went to my favourite cafe & hangout spot in the world! Starbucks! I'm a faithful customer. I absolutely love the vibe there.

BRILLIANT!

The person who created Starbucks is pure genius. I love the people there too. They are the friendliest, most cheerful, most professional staff I've seen anywhere. Right when we entered the door, the people said,"Good afternoon! Welcome to Starbucks!" in a warm, heartfelt manner. Some people "botox" smiles on their faces when you enter. They even recommend drinks for you so that you don't have to look at the menu like a fool; because all the drinks are supa-cool! I ordered the Chocolate Cream Frapp. Unfortunately, it started raining. But the weather couldn't dampen the vibe in there. Even for a nano-second! The great indie music mix really helped. I felt so laid-back. Starbucks is definitely THE non-spa R&R treatment for dudes.

When we got back to KB, it was too late to go to Bandar. Plus it was raining! So I missed my cousin's birthday party. And a chance to meet my other amazing cousins. But they loved my cupcakes! At least that accounts for something :)
